Here's looking at you...'
Swedish photographer My Hellsten's photo essay entitled Fjällkor on Burn has caused a bit of a stir. It seems that My's portraits of ...erm... cows.. are the sort of thing that you either love or hate.
Detractors seem to object to My's technique - often using flash at night - which frequently leads to blown or burnt out highlights.
But I'm definitely in the 'loving 'em' camp and here is one of my favourites:
As well as being funny, bizarre and slightly magical, My's cow photos challenge our view of what might constitute a 'domestic animal.' As a result, they might also challenge our perception of what it is to be human?
Yeah...
