Virtual Beauty; wrinkles and all...

It was the pursuit of a greater understanding of beauty and aesthetics that gave the initial impetus to Photo-Dialogue.  Here, as a slight aside, is Paul Debevec on TED where he shows the key to digital beauty (or, at least, the photo-real digital human face) seems to be a very careful mapping and portrayal of the wrinkles and grease on the skin!

Paul's team uses polarised light to carefully map bulging muscle, wrinkling skin and stretching pores to digitally reproduce actress Emily O'Brian.

The result is absolutely incredible. But... now that I know the 'how', I'm still struggling with the 'why?'...
